Isis - Биография

Американская команда «Isis» была сформирована в 1997 году, в Бостоне, Массачусетс. Изначально группу представляли Аарон Тёрнер (гитара/вокал), Джэф Кэксайд (бас) и Аарон Харис (барабаны), но состав регулярно менялся до и после записи первых ЕР «Mosquito Control» и «The Red Sea».

Состав группы стабилизировался лишь в 1999 году после входа в ряды команды гитариста Майк Галахер (ex-Cast Iron Hike) и электронщика Клиф Мейер (ex-The Gersch). Вскоре «Isis» отправились в тур с группами «Cave In» и «Neurosis», по завершении которого о группе заговорили за пределами Соединенных Штатов.

Концертная деятельность группы продолжилась и в 2000 году, в то время «Isis» делили сцену с такими составами, как «Candiria» и «The Dillinger Escape Plan». Летом музыканты выпустили дебютный альбом «Celestial» на лейбле «Escape Artist Records», а спустя год компания «Neurot Recordings» выпустила их ЕР «Sgnl>05», в состав которого вошел ремикс на трек «Celestial (Signal Fills the Void)» от Джастина Броадрика (Godflesh).

Весной 2001 года музыканты «Isis» отправились в тур с командами «Keelhaul» и «Eyehategod», а также выступали с легендами грайндкора «Napalm Death». Летом группа разделяла сцену с коллективами «Knut» и «Thrones». Вслед за этим музыканты приняли решение сделать перерыв в концертной деятельности с целью записи нового материала.

Для записи очередного альбома «Oceanic» музыканты «Isis» пригласили гостей, среди которых значатся Мария Кристофер (отметилась на композициях: The Beginning and the End, Carry и Weight) и Аял Ноар (отметился на произведениях The Beginning and the End и Weight). Пластинка была выпущена на лейбле «Ipecac Recordings», как и «Panopticon», выпущенный в 2004 году. Также на счету группы издание концертного альбома и сплита с командой «Pig Destroyer».

В 2006 году вышел альбом «In the Absence of Truth».

18 мая 2010 года группа объявила о своем распаде. Музыканты заявили, что они сделали все, что хотели сделать и сказали все, что хотели сказать, их деятельность подошла к логичному финалу.
