Коsheen… Трио из Бристоля, герои конца 90-х, мгновенно ставшие звездами и не перестающие удивлять своих поклонников новыми экспериментами. Итак, Kosheen - это парочка драм-н-бейс продюсеров Mark(ee) “Substance” Morrison, Darren “Decoder” Beale и вокалистка Sian Evans. Дебютный альбом проекта - “Resist”, представлявший собой смесь из драм-н-бейс и трип-хоп ритмов, умопомрачительного вокала и интересных мелодий, наверняка слышали все. Хиты с него, такие как “(Slip & Slide) Suicide”, “Hide U” и “Catch”, крутились на огромном количестве радиостанций и получили широкое признание клубной общественности.
Следующим альбомом стал “Kokopelli”, который был воспринят уже иначе. Поп-роковый саунд, интеллектуальная лирика, яркая тяга к трип-хопу и психоделии. Индейские мотивы и шаманский грув, к сожалению, не спасли коллектив - народ по-прежнему хотел продолжения “Resist”, а получал что-то совершенно противоположное, хотя в концертных турах материал с дебютного альбома все же игрался. Хотя в случае “Kokopelli” отличный материал для ремиксов получили ди-джеи, и ремиксы все-таки добрались до лучших танцполов мира.
В 2007 году, в предверии нового альбома, ограниченным тиражом Kosheen выпустили промо-сингл “Overkill”, содержащий оригинальный трек и четыре ремикса. Не такой мощный, как “Resist”, и не такой сложный, как “Kokopelli”, новый Kosheen находился в более электрифицированном поп-рок пространстве, с хорошей ритмикой и в целом, если отбросить голос Шан, напоминал работы другого британского коллектива - Chemical Brothers. Что касается ремиксов, то это было кроткое техно и тек-хаус.
В 2007 году вышел альбом DAMAGE.
Он действительно, как и ожидали многие фанаты и критики, стал более электронным. Начинался альбом с глубокого саунда заглавной одноименной песни, где-то к Same Ground Again звук становился более приглушенным и танцевальным.
Все тот же голос... Все те же невообразимые вокальные партии с уносящими ввысь нотками. Этот шикарный альбом - показатель очередного выхода на новый уровень одной из значимых групп современности.
Он не "другой", он просто - "новый".
