— американская хип-хоп/панк-рок-группа из Orange County, Калифорния, образованная в 1994 году.
На юге Калифорнии есть одно местечко - Orange County, что мы о нём знаем, да по сути практически ничего, но для любителей панк музыки это не просто далёкий городок на западном побережье с красивым названием, это настоящая колыбель калифорнийского панка. Именно это место дало миру таких ветеранов панк-рока как T.S.O.L. и D.I., именно там образовались легенды ска - No Doubt, именно там начала свой путь культовая команда Zebrahead. Но речь пойдёт о не совсем типичной для этих мест команде. Что может быть общего между панк музыкой и хип хопом? Ничего, скажете вы, и будете неправы. Brad «Daddy» X - вокалист местной панк команды Humble Gods после записи их дебютного альбома и разлада внутри коллектива собирает хип хоп банду и открывает собственную студию Suburban noize records для записи первой пластинки.
Не всё было гладко в начале их творческого пути. В 1995 году во время съёмок рекламы газировки трагически погибает лучший друг Daddy X первый диджей группы - Rob Harris. Это событие сильно повлияло на Брэда и выбило его на время из колеи. Но собравшись с силами группа под названием PTB a.k.a. P-Town Ballers решила записать несколько демок. Но записав их они узнали, что уже существует другая команда с похожим названием. Тогда было решено переименовать группу в Cottonmouth Kings, и вскоре название переросло в Kottonmouth Kings.
На смену Робу приходит DJ Bobby B, с ним ребята и записывают свою первую EP Stoners Reeking Havoc. На тот момент состав группы выглядел следующим образом - Daddy X, Saint Dog и D-Loc - mc, пришедший вслед за старым приятелем, барабанщик Humlbe Gods, весьма колоритный малый по прозвищу Lou Dog, DJ Bobby B и уличный танцор Pakelika. Дебютный альбом не заставил долго ждать и в 1998 году под крылом Capitol records выходит диск Royal Highness. То сколько эмоций даёт этот альбом просто не описать! Группа постаралась на отлично! Чёткий вокал, качающий бит плюс к этому всему панк мотивы некоторых песен. Далее, в 1999 году, выходит Hidden Stash в который вошли собранные за время существования группы, но не выпущенные песни.
Вскоре Saint Dog покидает группу, чтобы заняться собственным проектом совместно со своим братом, только что вышедшим из тюряги. Они создают собственный лэйбл USA records и даже выпускают на нём альбом своего проекта U.S.A. (Unconformable Social Amputees) - Spun Crazy. На смену Saint Dogу пришёл друг детства D-Loca, великолепный MC Johnny Richter.
В 2000 году под новый год выходит альбом «High Society». Слушая этот альбом прибываешь в каком то трансе… или астрале, особенно туманит мозг от песни Elevated Sounds. Так же одновременно с этим альбомом записывался материал для первого DVD фильма о группе, DVD выйдет в 2001 году и будет называться Dopeumentary». Так же в 2001 году выходит пластинка «Hidden Stash II - The Kream Of The Krop». В 2002 году наступает черёд самого сочного, колоритного и лучшего на данный момент альбома «Rollin’ Stoned, практически одновременно с ним выходит концертный DVD «Stoners Reeking Havoc». Далее на весь 2003 год группа отправляется в турне по Америке. По завершении которого выходит DVD «Endless Highway», также в 2003 году заканчивается контракт группы с Capitol records и парни выпускают свой первый альбом на обложке которого красуется надпись © Suburban noise records, он представляет собой двухдисковое издание, содержащее лучше песни в живом исполнении, так альбом и называется - Classic hits Live. Далее, в середине 2004 года выходит «Fire It Up» и прилагающийся к нему DVD «Down 4 Tha Crown» . В этом альбоме акцент звучания сдвигается в сторону панк рока, и группа дарит нам такие хиты как Angry Youth и Revolution. В 2005 году наступает черёд нового альбома «№7», и если на «Fire It Up» звучал панк рок, то теперь пришла очередь чистейшего хип хопа, тут нельзя не вспомнить супер хит Put It Down, записанный совместно с Cypress Hill. В клипе, снятом на эту песню можно увидеть D-Loca, исполняющего на костылях, дело в том что после записи альбома он сильно повредил ногу и тур в поддержку диска пришлось отменить, хотя сам Miller ака D-Loc был готов выступать хоть в инвалидной коляске. В этом же году выходит DVD «10 Years Deep» - некий отчёт группы перед фанатами за 10 лет. 2006 год преподносит нам сразу 2 творения Kottonmouth Kings альбом «Koast 2 Koast», хоть многие и критикуют этот альбом, но по большому счёту он очень неплох. И далее в ноябре 2006 года выходит маркетинг ход под названием «Hidden Stash III». Альбом представляет собой 2-ух дисковый сборник хитов группы, плюс несколько новых треков. А так же к этому сборнику прилагается DVD с клипами и концертами. В 2010м году участники группы заявляют об изменении состава группы - отныне группа состоит из The Dirtball, D-Loc, Daddy X, Johnny Richter и DJ Bobby B. KMK выпускают новый альбом Long Live The Kings, а затем и сольный альбом Johnny Richter - Laughing.
