No Use for a Name (или просто NUFAN) панк-рокеры родом из Сан Хосе, Калифорния. В первоначальном составе, образованном в 1987 году, были Tony Sly, Steve Papoutsis, Rory Koff, и Chris Dodge. Звучание группы менялось на протяжении всего карьерного времени, становясь более мягким и популярным звучанием мелодичного панка.
Первый релиз группы «Gang Way «состоялся на сборнике Maximum RocknRoll’s 1987 Turn it Around. Через год группы выпустал одноименный ЕР на Woodpecker Records. Их второй ЕР «Let ‘em Out» вышел на Slap A Ham Records год спустя. Chris Dodge ушел после релиза этой ЕРихи.
Дебютный LP «Incognito» был выпущен в 1990 на New Red Archives. Chris Dodge вернулся на место второго гитариста, и они выпустили второй альбом Don’t Miss the Train в 1992 перед тем, как подписаться на Fat Mike’s label Fat Wreck Chords в 1993. После выпуска More Betterness! в 1999, Крис Шифлет ушел в Foo Fighters, и на его место взяли Dave Nassie. Два года спустя группа выпустила на лэйбле Fat Wreck Chords концертник Live in a Dive: No Use for a Name и в следующем году выпустила седьмой студийный альбом Hard Rock Bottom.
Восьмой (более политический) альбом Keep Them Confused вышел 14 июня 2005.
