Phantom Planet – группа из Южной Калифорнии, относится к альтернативному року. Группа более широко известна по треку «California», который был создан для популярного молодёжного сериала «The O.C.».
Группа существует с 1994 года по наши дни, дебютный альбом появился 1997 году (Phantom Planet is Missing), в 2002 году вышел второй их альбом (The Guest), который принес наибольший успех благодаря песне «California». Данный альбом продолжал быть в стиле pop-rock, что привлекало очень многих слушателей. Третий альбом вышел в 2004, после которого группа стала больше двигаться в стиле garage rock, который как раз в то время набирал обороты и был очень популярен.
