Skindred - Биография
Skindred - это бывшая британская команда «Dub War» образованная в 1993 году в Ньюпорте, Уэльс. Первоначальный состав: Benji Webbe (Вокал), Jeff Rose (Гитара), Richie Glover (Бас), Martin ‘Ginge’ Ford (Барабаны).
В январе 1999 года группа официально заявила о своем распаде. После чего участиники разбрелись по сольным проектам. Вокалист Benji организовал группу «mass mental?», с которой записал 2 альбома.
Вновь они собралась в 2000 году. Однако один из участников (Richie Glover) покинул группу. Теперь на басу играл Dantie Pea.
После долгих экспериментов родилось несколько демо-записей. В 2002 года группа официально меняет название на «Skindred» и выпускает «первый» лонгплей под названием «Babylon» на лейбле MCA Records. В альбом вошло 11 песен, каждая из которых по-своему демонстрирует разнообразие стилей музыки Skindred. От того что делали раньше DubWar не осталось и следа. Skindred создали свой собственный неповторимый стиль! Они смешали Drum & Bass, nu-metal, dancehall, punk, rap и ragga, и назвали его ragga-punk-metal!!
В ноябре 2002 года группу покидают Jeff и Ginge. Им на смену приходят Mikey Dee and Dirty Arya.
В 2004 году на Lava Records переиздается альбом Babylon , а спустя еще год, в 2005-ом, еще одно переиздание, но на этот раз с бонус-диском, на котором представлены 4 акустические версии старых песен. В 2007 вышел новый альбом, под названием «Roots Rock Riot» , в котором 14 абсолютно новых треков (включая 2 бонус трека). Такой же энергетичный как и предыдущие их работы. А в сентябре 2009 группа выпустила ЕР - «Shark Bites and Dog Fights» , 8 новых треков. Немногие группы так могут радовать, 8 треков для Extended Play - редкость.
