Napoleon Da Legend - Killa Promo

〈Napoleon Da Legend verse 1〉
His life flashed in front his eyes police sirens
Harmonizing with a woman on the corner crying
Transported back to a young child that his grandma raised
His father wasn’t around... mother working for a wage
He loved football and music when the football fizzled
Due to injury, got himself on a rap star mission
He was good in school but school too slow
Part group though
The Gustos you know the type of street kids who shoot those
At studios popping off on the opps like he spins the blocks
Video shot Worldstar and Youtube hot
Knots in his tube socks flashing money on his socials
Mad shows too, no longer considered local
Was on the road when he found out his grandma passed
It’s bittersweet cause hе made it now the fam all sad
Flew back to J.F.K., nеws spread he’s back in town
Even police warned him not to be caught lacking when around
But he couldn’t miss the opportunity to ball
After the funeral, him and his boys made a few calls
Name getting lit sitting on the couch with Vlad
Played the part like he really bout that
The label scouts wanna sign him feeling like the world in his palm
Rooftop midtown fly girl in his arms
On his way out he seen the dude he dissed in the song
Bullets flew through the boulevard in a blink he was gone

〈Napoleon Da Legend verse 2〉
Shorty crying traumatized by what she witnessed
Everybody with they phones like paparazzis taking pictures
She got paid by the promoters to “sise” the party up
Side job she was in school working on her doctorate
The only person in her family to go to college
And they all proud, she loved to see her mama smiling
Now she gotta brush it off and face the elements
Her ex broke it off intimidated by intelligence
The elephant inside of the room, nobody mentioned it
She was doing better for herself, he was competitive
She was in love, heart broken
She was a sweetheart determined but usually soft spoken
She thought the gig was good for her party and forget
Her past relationship, having fun and making new friends
She was tipsy that night, didn’t even know the artist
He told her she was different she felt he was being honest
Now she can’t sleep, flashbacks of the murder still haunt her
In a weird way, she was projecting her own karma
Right place wrong time it’s viral online
Reminders everywhere it’s hard to get it off her mind
Got her finals due soon with zero margin for error
Her brain dozing hard to focus and get it together
It’s an all nighter pressure like Assata Shakur
At about 3 in the morning, someone knock at the door

“Who is it?”
“Open the door, I need to talk to you…”

〈Napoleon Da Legend verse 1〉
It’s the dude from the murder
He said shorty chill I wanna talk I don’t really wanna hurt you
I know detective wanna talk to you
You better shut the fuck up for my goons put a hawk to you
The girl was scared to death
She said leave my ass alone I don’t really want stress
He said we know where you live…
So better keep your ass quiet or we’ll put a blade to your ribs
They dipped out then they hopped in a van
He signed a major deal last week for hundreds of bands
See he had a lot of fans too...
He made songs for the streets in the clubs he made them dance too
And the industry was loving him
Never caught lacking he was rolling with a gun with him
He had the green light the C.E.O. told him
Drill rap neighborhood beef we promoting
Intoxicated 24-Sev… (7)
Making money taking all bet pushed a red Corvette
He about to add salt in the womb
He made another song bragging the death in the tune
Disrespecting his tomb too
Video racked up a few mill on the YouTube
He getting bigger and the clout getting larger
Big chains new sneakers fresh from the barber
200,000 followers on the gram
Yesterday the opps pulled up, shot up his man
Shot up his moms cribs shot up his camp
And it’s all over blogs, take it straight to the bank
Hitting up the Breakfast Club talking mad shit
In the back his mind, he’s wild nervous and shit
The record label guaranteeing his protections
Followed by police in every single event and
Price to pay to get famous in rap
Dating all the it girls, breaking they backs
That’s an alpha... everybody wanna be him
But flipside its competition everybody wanna beat him
Till they caught him with some sniper shells
Few weeks earlier homie was hype as hell
But now they selling mad records, top billing
Both record labels made a killing

Napoleon Da Legend - Biography

Bilingual, Hip-Hop/Afrobeat artist, Napoleon Da Legend transferred his skills on the basketball court to the wax. Before that, he had to teach himself English. He kept his ears glued to the radio.

Paris-born, to the Comoros Islands, then Washington DC raised, the son of an immigrant family, Napoleon is a Brooklyn-based artist who uses his voice as weapon of hope, social-critique, conquest, and joy. After an untimely split, his parents left the U.S. and went their separate ways leaving the 16 year old to fend for himself in the DC / Maryland area, which helped him develop his hustle, instinct and work-ethic. NDL’s song “Black Privilege” led him to be featured at the Essence Festival in 2017. He was then invited to perform live on FOX 5’s Good Day DC.

NDL’s message of empowerment, community, and self-determination through music doesn’t stop there. He also works regularly with youth, running hip-hop workshops in Brooklyn’s toughest schools and Rikers Island’s juvenile programs.

Following the release of his “Steal This Mixtape” series in 2016, Napoleon headlined his “Steal This Mixtape” European Tour. He’s been featured on Statik Selekta’s Show Off Radio Show and Sway Calloway’s Sway in the Morning. To top all this, he graced the stage at the final Rocksteady Crew’s 40th Anniversary show at SummerStage in Central Park. In 2019, NDL performed in Europe’s biggest Hip-Hop Festival Hip-Hop Kemp in Czech Republic as Supa Kaiju with rapper/producer Sicknature.

2018 was yet another prolific year, without a doubt. Napoleon released 10 projects- including four albums, four mixtapes, and two EP’s released through various indie labels (Chopped Herring, Media Pop, Copenhagen Crates and Tuff Gong Records). This was followed by eight appearances in 2019 at Harlem Week’s main stage. He then became recognized for his fusing the world’s of Hip-Hop and Anime with albums Dragon Ball G (Dragon Ball Z), Bronze Saints (Saint Seiya) and King of the North Star (Fist of the North Star) in a feature article on Bandcamp (How Napoleon Da Legend Made Anime-Inspired Rap an Artform).

Since then, NDL has released 12 more projects, including the afrobeat/hip-hop fusion projects, “Afrostreet” & “Afrostreet 2”. After creating a few anthems (“Poulet Maafe”), which became popular with his French speaking audience, NDL decided to put his French powers into high gear. In September, 2019, he gave his first in interview in French with Mediapac (Watch it here), garnering over 100,000 views in less than a week. In May 2020, NDL featured on elite French rapper Akhenaton’s (IAM) “Asteroïde” project, trading verses in French and English on the innovative song “Storytellers”. In 2021, NDL was invited to adapt Akhenaton’s 19 minute song “La Faim de leur Monde” in English. They later collaborated on a 3-part EP series called “The Whole in my Heart” produced by Akhenaton on his label La Cosca.
