Airborne Toxic Event - Биография
The five-piece Alternative-Rock band The Airborne Toxic Event, named after a section of the book White Noise by Don DeLillo, began in 2006 in the small sub-city of Los Feliz in Los Angeles, California USA, with just one member, singer + guitarist Mikel Jollett. He first met up with drummer Daren Taylor and the pair were soon joined by guitarist Steven Chen, keyboardist + violinist Anna Bulbrook and bassist Noah Harmon.
The group played their first show in L.A. less than one month after it was fully formed and in less than two years, the band has earned tons of positive attention from music lovers and press alike; a handful of East Coast shows followed including two opening slots for The Fratellis.
"Sometime Around Midnight" was the band's first single from its self-titled debut album which arrived in August 2008 via Majordomo Records. When the quintet signed to Island Records, in early 2009, their debut single started to climb the Hot Modern Rock chart hastily and peaked at #4 while the album reached the #108 position on The Billboard 200. The second single, "Wishing Well", did less well, faltering just outside the top 20 of The Alternative Songs listing.
In early 2010 the group finished an impressive run of 354 shows in support of the first album and began writing songs for a second.
In April 2011 The Airborne Toxic Event released their second full-length disc, "All At Once", it peaked at #17 on The Billboard 200 Albums list led by the Hot Modern Rock smash single "Changing" which hit #6 on the Billboard's Alternative chart. The second single, "All I Ever Wanted", stopped just short of the top 20, at #21, on the same chart.
"Such Hot Blood", the group's third effort was released in April 2013 and soon entered The Billboard 200 reaching #27. The first single from the record, "Timeless", peaked at #16 on The Alternative Songs chart.
Six months after the album's release, the quintet recorded a new song, the Alternative radio top 40 hit "Hell And Back", for the soundtrack to film "Dallas Buyers Club".
