Sufjan Stevens - Биография

Суфьян Стивенс (англ. Sufjan Stevens) (родился 1 июля 1975 года) — американский автор-исполнитель песен и музыкант из Детройта, штат Мичиган. Мультиинструменталист, композитор, тонкий лирик, чье влияние выходит далеко за рамки фолк-возрождения в инди-музыке… Во время учебы в колледже выступал в составе фолк-группы Marzuki. В 2000 году записал дебютный сольный альбом A Sun Came, который выпустил на собственном лейбле Asthmatic Kitty, который был образован им самим и его отчимом. Альбом 2005 года Illinois занял первое место в чарте Billboard Top Heatseekers.
Суфьян выпустил альбомы в разных стилях: от электронной музыки (Enjoy Your Rabbit) и Lo-Fi фолка (Seven Swans), до симфоний (Illinois и сборники Рождественских песен Songs for Christmas). Суфьян Стивенс играет на различных инструментах (гитара, бас-гитара, банджо, ситар, пианино, ксилофон, вибрафон, валторна, гобой, ударные).
Некоторые песни Суфьяна имеют религиозную тематику (Seven Swans).
Суфьян Стивенс получил большой интерес в прессе благодаря своему «Проекту пятидесяти Штатов» («Fifty States Project»), целью которого является посвящение альбома каждому штату страны. Он закончил 2 альбома из этой серии - Illinois и Michigan. В интервью Суфьян упоминал самые разные штаты, которые в скором времени должны стать частью этого проекта: Орегон, Калифорния и Нью Джерси.
В настоящее время живет в Нью-Йорке.
