«Tenacious D» - это два известных раздолбая и хулигана Кайл Гэсс и Джек Блэк, которые, кроме всего прочего, занимаются музыкой! Да, аж с 1994 года они ваяют шедевры в таких стилях, как акустический рок, хард рок, ну а, в основном, в жанре комедийного рока.

Познакомились они в 1985 году (Джеку было 16, а Кайлу - 24), так как оба состояли в труппе театра «Actor’s Gang». И уже через некоторое время после знакомства они начали музицировать на квартире Кайла в Лос-Анджелесе. Поначалу ребята называли себя «The Axe Lords», но в итоге решили остановиться на названии «Tenacious D».

После нескольких месяцев репетиций «Tenacious D» отыграли свой первый концерт, который прошел в баре «Al’s» - дело было в 1994 году. По счастливой случайности на том шоу присутствовал Дэвид Кросс - ему очень понравилось их выступление. В итоге это привело к созданию «сериала», названного «Tenacious D: The Greatest Band On Earth», который был показан в эфире комедийного скетч-шоу «Mr. Show» (на канале «HBO», одним из продюсеров которого и являлся Дэвид Кросс).

В «Tenacious D: The Greatest Band On Earth» они, собственно, разыгрывали свой путь к славе в мире музыкальной индустрии. После выхода первых 6-ти эпизодов - шоу было закрыто. Но у «Tenacious D» было уже достаточно фанатов и 25 сентября 2001 года они выпустили свой дебютный альбом - «Tenacious D», который, постепенно, стал платиновым.

Спустя пять лет они написали продолжение «The Pick of Destiny» (2006), которое идёт в качестве дополнения к их полнометражному фильму «Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny».
