Во время записи легендарного альбома Dr. Dre "Chronic" Tha Dogg Pound Карапт познакомился с массой толковых рэпперов, среди которых были двоюродные братья Snoop Doggy Dogg и Daz Dillinger и Warren G, младший брат Дре.

Оригинальное название рэп-команды, которая продюсировала и записывала "Хронику", было THA DOGG POUND. Но после 1992 года о нем как-то все забыли. После Snoop "Doggystyle" и саундтрека "Murder Was The Case" это была третья попытка переписать бессмертное творение Дре с еле узнаваемыми изменениями. В музыкальном плане это все те же глубокие доминирующие басы, скудные эффекты архаичных синтезаторов, мягкий женский бэк-вокал и среднего темпа бит, в то время как в текстах бесцеремонное обращение с молодыми черными сучками, брутальные перемолвки с другими "плохими" парнями, наркотики, немного политики и юморные базары между треками.

Несмотря на то, что Warner Bros. под напором общественности, обвиняющей группу в пропаганде насилия и вульгарности, бессовестно кинули не только THA DOGG POUND, но и весь Death Row/Interscope Records, их альбом все-таки вышел и благодаря тому, что Interscope заключил дистрибьюторское соглашение с Priority, разошелся тиражом более 2 миллионов. С того времени много воды утекло. Пути наших героев временно разминулись. Дэз заделался важным продюсером и успел поработать с живым Тупаком ("All Eyez On Me"), Снупом ("Tha Doggfather"), Scarface ("The Untouchable") и записать множество саудтреков ("Gang Related", "Natural Born Killers", "Rhyme & Reason"). Печально, но это факт. Сейчас Дэз остался едва ли не последним рэппером из некогда мощнейшего лагеря Death Row . Теперь он - вице-президент лейбла. Летом этого года Дэз напомнил о себе первым сольным альбомом "Retaliation, Revenge And Get Back" с участием Kurupt, Snoop, Soopafly, Bad Azz, Tray Dee, WC, Nate Dogg, Too Short, B-Legit и даже с покойным 2Pac. 17 новых треков в привычном гангста-стиле, думаю, вам уже понравились. Еще он готовит альбом THA GANG, проекта, в который помимо него вовлечены Soopafly, Bad Azz и Tray Dee.

А Карапт уехал к себе в Филадельфию и заключил новый контракт с Wall Street Records и A&M Records, с помощью которых открыл первый в истории рэп-музыки лейбл Antra Records, где стали записываться представители всех побережий. На его первом двойном сольнике "Kuruption" один диск "западный", другой - "восточный", а Antra Records, между прочим, имеет офисы как в Лос-Анджелесе, так и в Филадельфии. Примечательно, что на "восточном" диске оказался рэппер Noreaga, который вместе с Capone когда-то воевал против THA DOGG POUND, выпустив свою "L. A. L.A." на их "New York, New York". Приятно видеть, что старая вражда в прошлом. Помимо этого, Карапт также трудится над тремя суперпроектами. Первый - 3 THE HARD WAY, где выступит вместе со Снупом и Айсом Кьюбом. Второй - THE NEW MUTANTS в составе Карапт, Кэнибус и Рас Касс. Третий - FOUR HORSEMEN - пока засекречен, но Карапт заявл, что мы сможем увидеть вместе четверых рэпперов со всех регионов, которых меньше всего ожидаем встретить в одной команде. Из новых направлений деятельности его лейбла отметим также режиссерский кинодебют "Kuruption", в котором снимутся Left-Eye (TLC), Frank Dileo (GOODFELLAZ) и Warren G. Это история о человеке, который искал убийцу своей семьи, а оказалось, что киллер - член его же организации.
