The Black Angels - американская группа, играющая психоделический рок. Группа существует с мая 2004 года и базируется в городе Остин, Техас. В истории коллектива The Black Angels есть два момента, страшно важных для понимания их общей эстетики. Во-первых, своё название они позаимствовали у The Velvet Underground, из композиции “The Black Angel’s Death Song”, одной из самых безумных и шумовых у легендарных отцов-основателей. Кроме того, в качестве логотипа группа использует фотографию Нико (Nico), участвовашей в записи первого альбома The Velvet Underground. Во-вторых, родом они из Техаса. То есть, в их версии шумный психоделический гитарный рок сдобрен изрядной порцией пыльной тоски американского юга. Что-то подобное, пожалуй, могло бы получиться у Arcade Fire, если бы соборам они предпочитали хайвэи. Или у Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, если бы у руля вдруг встал праведный безумец Дэвид Юджин Эдвардс из Sixteen Horsepower и Woven Hand.
