The Offspring – американская панк-рок-группа из Хантингтон-Бич, штат Калифорния. Во многом, именно благодаря творчеству The Offspring (а также их коллегам по цеху Green Day и Rancid) в 90х годах поднялась новая волна интереса к панк-року, как к музыкальному стилю. Коллектив является одним из самых продаваемых панк-групп, за время существования команды записи разошлись тиражом более 40 миллионов копий.
Датой основания The Offspring принято считать 1984 год, когда вокалист Bryan "Dexter" Holland и басист Greg Kriesel, впечатлившись творчеством панк-рок группы Social Distortion решили создать собственную группу. Впоследствии к команде присоединились барабанщик James Lilja и второй гитарист Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman, приглашенный по причине того, что он единственный был достаточно взрослый, чтобы покупать остальным алкоголь. В 1986 году группа выпускает первую демо-запись , и приступает к записи первых альбомов.
В 1993 году группа записывает третий студийный альбом Smash под началом известного в панк-рок тусовке продюсера Thom Whilson. Пластинка бьет все рекорды продаж среди независимых лейблов и 6 раз становится платиновой.
