Biography:

Joey the Dreamer is an artist of many influences, but those influences can be summed up with 4 words. Rock, Rap, Anime, and Jazz. Born September 24, 1996; The saxophonist turned songwriter lived out his early childhood in Springfield, IL where the seeds of his musical talents were planted. Following the separation of his parents, he lived out the majority of his adolescent days with his grandparents, mother, 2 younger brothers, and older half sister in the Chicago suburb of Roselle, IL where he picked up the saxophone. Music quickly became his primary outlet to escape from the social turmoil he faced both in the classroom and at home as he came face to face with the tribulations of adjusting to a new environment where the majority of his peers lacked familial, cultural or economic similarities.

Heavily influenced by popular music artists of the early 2000’s in most genres, he gravitated towards songwriters with a message of perseverance, yet articulated pain as a source of inspiration. In 2014 on his birthday, a familial dispute led to him, his mother, and 2 younger brothers to be homeless, seeking the help of strangers to get by, for nearly 1 whole year. It was during this time he came to question his world view and society as a whole.

In time, his situation was remedied, but the lessons of survival remained. Those hardships, failures, and successes yet to come, all have shaped him into the provocative writer, musician, artist, and philosopher that he is today. This is Joey the Dreame
