Dan de son vrai prénom Daniel, est un rappeur et DJ français. Il fût également gérant du mythique shop “Ticaret” à Paris, premier magasin de Hip-Hop en Europe. Du début des années 80 au début des années 90.

Dan rencontre Moda tout juste sortit du Ministère AMER qu'il avait fondé, et qui cherchait à ce moment un DJ pour créer un duo et continuer à rapper. Ce sera chose faite, car ils créent le duo Moda et Dan.

Il donne une possible explication de son pseudo dans une interview donné à l'occasion de la sortie d'une mixtape de Jimmy Jay. Il prend comme fait que son nom dans le groupe est “et Dan” et pas simplement “Dan”.

E pour Eart, Wind and Fire, T pour Talking Heads, D pour Doors, A pour Armstrong et le N pour Nat King Cole.

Ce qui permet de cerner en partie les influences musicales de Dan pour l'époque.
