Mommy, I've got a question
Mommy, I wanna know
Where do babies come from?

Do they come from rainbows and love?
Mommy, mommy, tell me, please
Where do babies come from, really?

They come from boys who like to sit on their ass
They come from girls who want to grow p too fast
They come from screaming fighting, makeup sex
They come from little girls like yourself

Little girls like yourself

Daddy, where do little babies come from?
Daddy tells me they come from the sky
But never explained
When I asked why

Do they come from angels in love?
Or do they come from demons in lust?
Daddy, daddy, tell me please
Where do babies come from, really?

They come from boys who take things they don't own
They come from girls who begged to be left alone
They come from pleading, screaming, "no, no, no!"
They're an accident from so long ago
What a lovely little mess I've made
I throw milk on the walls in rage
Oh, I'm trying to just forget the pain

Mommy, daddy, tell me please
Where do babies come from, really?

They come from boys who like to sit on their ass
They come from girls who want to grow p too fast
They come from screaming fighting, makeup sex
They come from little girls like yourself
They come from boys who take things they don't own
They come from girls who begged to be left alone
They come from pleading, screaming, "no, no, no!"
They're an accident from so long ago
They come from boys who like to sit on their ass
They come from girls who want to grow p too fast
They come from screaming fighting, makeup sex
They come from little girls like yourself

Melanie Martinez - Biography

Melanie Adele Martinez (born April 28, 1995) is an American singer-songwriter born in Astoria, Queens, and raised in Baldwin, New York.

Born to Dominican and Puerto Rican parents, she got her start on the Emmy Award-winning TV show The Voice USA at 17 years old. Although she did not win, this lead her to produce her first single “Carousel”, which was used in promos for American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Starting her independent career, Melanie signed with Atlantic Records. More than a year after Melanie’s Dollhouse EP was released, her first studio album Cry Baby made its debut on August 14, 2015, with the likes of Kinetics and One Love as producers of the record. She released her second album called K-12 four years later, on September 6, 2019, counting a total of 13 tracks with themes such as female empowerment and gender equality.

Her unique style of writing, singing, and story-telling has garnered her enormous fanbase— songs like “Mrs. Potato Head” and “Dollhouse” yield a touch of social commentary, while “Alphabet Boy” and “Cry Baby” give listeners a glimpse into her personal life.

She cites Lana Del Rey, Regina Spektor, Feist, Fiona Apple and Marina and the Diamonds as major influences on her music.

In addition to her accounts on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, Melanie also uses Tumblr, YouTube, and her official website to connect with fans.
