〈Napoleon Da Legend verse〉
Amazing grace to bathing apes to blazing tapes
To face time no face to face the state of Grace is
Race baiting racist cops spitting in our faces
Satan talking to atheist pick pocket aces and since
The proclamation emancipatory status
Drinks with Noreaga interrupted conversations
Statues of white guys taboo and white lies
Fast food fried rice shorty ass looking the right size
Unemployment treating labor like they unimportant
Drill rap and gun endorsements we run in Jordan’s
How come the poorest carry the rich while they bury chips
Monetary flips mentality gotta be very fit
Money is everything and everything imagery
Beauty standards model chicks anatomic symmetry
What about the regular chicks and all the pressure caused
Went to get some surgery that bill was what a Tesla cost
It’s hurts me in my chest and core it hurts me when I press record
Gotta get it off my chest I gotta give these gems to y’all
They wanna keep our voice muzzled no choice but to hustle
We employ muscle can't avoid struggle we don’t know subtle
We know lies, no fly zone we know flies
Too many people we know die
We know courts and we know trials both types
Most nights, nose tight sniffles from cold nights
We know fights know our rights know what having no rights
Feels like late payments we know having no lights
Discrimination off skin tone dress code
Hair styles been bold, FICO, red lines
Headlines for murder never good news hood news
Good foods athletics who making the good moves
Scammers swindlers other side good dudes
Finish last look at that, luxury and good views
Star making system bars make the prison
You know the old adage get the car then the woman
Sexual harassment and professional assassins
Hard to meditate disconnect to lessen the attachment
It’s all mathematics we all passive addicts
Looking for that magic hard to civilize the savage
Internalize pain with what they fertilize our brain
Borrowed time that we living on till we burn out the flame
While we buffering the suffering recovering from
Trauma from the past morning time I run to the sun
Passionate ones work with no worries of outcome
Cause you know time the only thing can never outrun
Friendships wither relationship we re consider
Wanna be paid in full like the way we leave from dinner
Stomach stretched turn my phone off I’m done with texts
Tipsy from the rum effect or a Dilla drum set
Our favorite people leaves us but destiny always meet us
From a cell to fetus hoping that tomorrow will redeem us
Junior Demus repeat myself till I’m heard
Feel myself till I’m worth built ya whole universe
I rose beyond the curse seen a man read the Coran in church
Sub-atomic work cellular level my whole biology change
With my psychology the dollars came they on to me
Created an ecology on top of my game
Full automony greatest erected
Kylie Irving when he change direction legend yo my name reflects it
Everyday a different template I’m the same apprentice
Who surpassed the master and then attracted rapture
I just snap and capture moment of my life in all in honesty
Illy at this rap thing on my illiadic Odyssey
Illmatic policy but never static obviously
I tell myself just do it if it’s destiny it gotta be
This is strength capsule drink it with some ginger tea
Optimist religiously walk with invincibility
Conquer habitually like Pac Rolling picture me
Top role potentially for y’all my contingency
Credentials in the street that's never tied into no beef
No Designer T, I make my own, you can sign to me
This is geometry Tenshinhan pensions stocks and bond
Keep ya attention when I drop them bombs

Napoleon Da Legend - Biography

Bilingual, Hip-Hop/Afrobeat artist, Napoleon Da Legend transferred his skills on the basketball court to the wax. Before that, he had to teach himself English. He kept his ears glued to the radio.

Paris-born, to the Comoros Islands, then Washington DC raised, the son of an immigrant family, Napoleon is a Brooklyn-based artist who uses his voice as weapon of hope, social-critique, conquest, and joy. After an untimely split, his parents left the U.S. and went their separate ways leaving the 16 year old to fend for himself in the DC / Maryland area, which helped him develop his hustle, instinct and work-ethic. NDL’s song “Black Privilege” led him to be featured at the Essence Festival in 2017. He was then invited to perform live on FOX 5’s Good Day DC.

NDL’s message of empowerment, community, and self-determination through music doesn’t stop there. He also works regularly with youth, running hip-hop workshops in Brooklyn’s toughest schools and Rikers Island’s juvenile programs.

Following the release of his “Steal This Mixtape” series in 2016, Napoleon headlined his “Steal This Mixtape” European Tour. He’s been featured on Statik Selekta’s Show Off Radio Show and Sway Calloway’s Sway in the Morning. To top all this, he graced the stage at the final Rocksteady Crew’s 40th Anniversary show at SummerStage in Central Park. In 2019, NDL performed in Europe’s biggest Hip-Hop Festival Hip-Hop Kemp in Czech Republic as Supa Kaiju with rapper/producer Sicknature.

2018 was yet another prolific year, without a doubt. Napoleon released 10 projects- including four albums, four mixtapes, and two EP’s released through various indie labels (Chopped Herring, Media Pop, Copenhagen Crates and Tuff Gong Records). This was followed by eight appearances in 2019 at Harlem Week’s main stage. He then became recognized for his fusing the world’s of Hip-Hop and Anime with albums Dragon Ball G (Dragon Ball Z), Bronze Saints (Saint Seiya) and King of the North Star (Fist of the North Star) in a feature article on Bandcamp (How Napoleon Da Legend Made Anime-Inspired Rap an Artform).

Since then, NDL has released 12 more projects, including the afrobeat/hip-hop fusion projects, “Afrostreet” & “Afrostreet 2”. After creating a few anthems (“Poulet Maafe”), which became popular with his French speaking audience, NDL decided to put his French powers into high gear. In September, 2019, he gave his first in interview in French with Mediapac (Watch it here), garnering over 100,000 views in less than a week. In May 2020, NDL featured on elite French rapper Akhenaton’s (IAM) “Asteroïde” project, trading verses in French and English on the innovative song “Storytellers”. In 2021, NDL was invited to adapt Akhenaton’s 19 minute song “La Faim de leur Monde” in English. They later collaborated on a 3-part EP series called “The Whole in my Heart” produced by Akhenaton on his label La Cosca.
