〈Napoleon Da Legend verse 1〉
After the sunshine the rain come back
Had a few good days and then the pain come back
Back to basics Shaolin stretches on my yoga mat
I rather forks on the road than a cul-de-sac
Swollen lymph nodes bulging out my neck
Still hit the gym up bulking up my legs
Protein ain’t cutting it got me wondering
What Dolph Lundgrun did in rocky couldn’t get in touch with him
Calendula tea on my peninsula
Trying to cope mood swinging like a pendulum
If I had one wish man I don't know
Maybe bring back the dead who didn’t wanna go...
Then again why? It hurts on earth
The cycle’s birth re-birth back to the dirt on earth
Shit I can’t tell therе’s a few perks on earth
Ya biggеst gift, can then become a curse on earth
Sad, when good relationship go bad
Took for granted what u had, now you can't go back
Trying to slow down but days are going faster now
Kawhi Leonard with the clippers not the raptors now
Change is constant mad souls get lost and found
When on the come up ideas get tossed around
Ms. Bisi "Imani House" she lost a daughter
Ignored at the hospital insurance under water
Some worship logos some rock clothes to stay warm
Spent hours on the court to shoot jays with great form
When you build with right one then the knowledge stay born
How this art form turn into a modern day porn
Sex money murder black women getting kidnapped
Sex traffic bodies getting traded where the tricks at
Gang related artists yes poverty is heartless
Flip side culture flourishes where death hits the hardest

〈Napoleon Da Legend Chorus x2〉
If I had wish
I’d probably ask for 5 more
Better health maybe more time life so short

〈Napoleon Da Legend verse 2〉
A great one said, sunshine can’t bleach snow
Nor can time unmake what the poets know
Overdosing on rum late night
At the playground trynna get my pump fake right
Remember meeting Ose Reggie
With my boy hoping that my demo would get me
A way out my crazy grind was crazy times
Had a little lady down in Harlem she was fine
Was looking to be signed we was trying the best way we knew
We had a few songs that could have blew
Couple of radio joints we hit the stage like
Took a couple shots to the face for the stage fright
Drunk driving back home trying not to dose
These were things we did looking for that pot of gold
Love and recognition justifying our existence
In this cold world either you the hunter or the victim
Chasing bags dark circles bags under eyes
Hoop dreams long gone I was mad undersized
Fuck a job tho that shit was like death to me
And the way they treated us that shit would get to me
Looking in the mirror my future self stepped to me
Said it had to thank me cause it had a debt to me
That’s the pep talk I needed and the thought got seeded
Reminded who we are when I’m forgetful I'm a feed it
Easy to get caught sleeping at the flee market
And forgetting what you worth searching for the cheap option
Barbershop cutting off few inches off the top
My Hustle got smarter shortcut! to the top
Pursuit of happiness with grass root savviness
Black dude matching substance smooth packaging
"Ready to live" Wake Self I’m on my path again
I let it come to me no longer chasing after it

〈Napoleon Da Legend Chorus x2〉
If I had wish
I’d probably ask for 5 more
Better health maybe more time life so short

Napoleon Da Legend - Biography

Bilingual, Hip-Hop/Afrobeat artist, Napoleon Da Legend transferred his skills on the basketball court to the wax. Before that, he had to teach himself English. He kept his ears glued to the radio.

Paris-born, to the Comoros Islands, then Washington DC raised, the son of an immigrant family, Napoleon is a Brooklyn-based artist who uses his voice as weapon of hope, social-critique, conquest, and joy. After an untimely split, his parents left the U.S. and went their separate ways leaving the 16 year old to fend for himself in the DC / Maryland area, which helped him develop his hustle, instinct and work-ethic. NDL’s song “Black Privilege” led him to be featured at the Essence Festival in 2017. He was then invited to perform live on FOX 5’s Good Day DC.

NDL’s message of empowerment, community, and self-determination through music doesn’t stop there. He also works regularly with youth, running hip-hop workshops in Brooklyn’s toughest schools and Rikers Island’s juvenile programs.

Following the release of his “Steal This Mixtape” series in 2016, Napoleon headlined his “Steal This Mixtape” European Tour. He’s been featured on Statik Selekta’s Show Off Radio Show and Sway Calloway’s Sway in the Morning. To top all this, he graced the stage at the final Rocksteady Crew’s 40th Anniversary show at SummerStage in Central Park. In 2019, NDL performed in Europe’s biggest Hip-Hop Festival Hip-Hop Kemp in Czech Republic as Supa Kaiju with rapper/producer Sicknature.

2018 was yet another prolific year, without a doubt. Napoleon released 10 projects- including four albums, four mixtapes, and two EP’s released through various indie labels (Chopped Herring, Media Pop, Copenhagen Crates and Tuff Gong Records). This was followed by eight appearances in 2019 at Harlem Week’s main stage. He then became recognized for his fusing the world’s of Hip-Hop and Anime with albums Dragon Ball G (Dragon Ball Z), Bronze Saints (Saint Seiya) and King of the North Star (Fist of the North Star) in a feature article on Bandcamp (How Napoleon Da Legend Made Anime-Inspired Rap an Artform).

Since then, NDL has released 12 more projects, including the afrobeat/hip-hop fusion projects, “Afrostreet” & “Afrostreet 2”. After creating a few anthems (“Poulet Maafe”), which became popular with his French speaking audience, NDL decided to put his French powers into high gear. In September, 2019, he gave his first in interview in French with Mediapac (Watch it here), garnering over 100,000 views in less than a week. In May 2020, NDL featured on elite French rapper Akhenaton’s (IAM) “Asteroïde” project, trading verses in French and English on the innovative song “Storytellers”. In 2021, NDL was invited to adapt Akhenaton’s 19 minute song “La Faim de leur Monde” in English. They later collaborated on a 3-part EP series called “The Whole in my Heart” produced by Akhenaton on his label La Cosca.
