Sofi Tukker - Biography
SOFI TUKKER, made up of New York-based Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, burst onto the scene in 2016 with their single “Drinkee”.
Their debut album Treehouse was released on April 13, 2018. The album contains the previously released singles Best Friend, Fuck They, and Batshit, as well as seven new tracks.
Sophie and Tucker met at an art gallery, while they both played as a separate act. As Sophie recalled:
I was playing acoustic bossa nova music in a trio and Tucker was the DJ that night. He came early and saw what we were doing and ended up remixing one of my songs on the spot…We have been working together ever since!
Sophie studied Portuguese at Brown University, which is the reason the duo often incorporate Portuguese lyrics in their songs.
