Melanie Martinez - Blue Knees

〈Verse 1〉
Just 'cause I bought a band-aid
Doesn't mean I'm able to clean the
Scars that run deeper than all my old demons
I have to keep 'em under still water

Just 'cause you give me flowers
Doesn't cover up the smell of a dead body
Or raise the dead body of a girl who got shut down before

Just 'cause you crack the window
Doesn't mean I'm able to clear the air
That made it hard to breathe before you came around here

Just 'cause you say you lovе me
Doesn't mean that I'm gonna look you in thе eyes
Pretend to be surprised
And say I love you back (love you back)

〈Chorus〉
Cause I'm trippin', trippin' on rocks
Cuttin' on my ankles where I know the blood stops
Blue, blue knees
Fallin' for the next man who breathes
I need a band-aid recovery
Don't get too close 'cause you're really nothing to me
You're just a band-aid on my knees (oh ooh)
You're just a band-aid recovery

I'll rip you off when I bleed
I'll rip you off when I bleed

〈Verse 2〉
Just 'cause I'm coming over
Doesn't mean I'll be there when you wake up
'Cause coming over doesn't mean that I'm over him

Just 'cause you are my band-aid
Doesn't mean I want you to stick around
'Cause rebounds get washed away the next time it rains

〈Chorus〉
Cause I'm trippin', trippin' on rocks
Cuttin' on my ankles where I know the blood stops
Blue, blue knees
Fallin' for the next man who breathes
I need a band-aid recovery
Don't get too close 'cause you're really nothing to me
You're just a band-aid on my knees (oh ooh)
You're just a band-aid recovery

I'll rip you off when I bleed

I'll rip you off when I bleed (When I bleed. When I bleed.)

Melanie Martinez - Biography

Melanie Adele Martinez (born April 28, 1995) is an American singer-songwriter born in Astoria, Queens, and raised in Baldwin, New York.

Born to Dominican and Puerto Rican parents, she got her start on the Emmy Award-winning TV show The Voice USA at 17 years old. Although she did not win, this lead her to produce her first single “Carousel”, which was used in promos for American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Starting her independent career, Melanie signed with Atlantic Records. More than a year after Melanie’s Dollhouse EP was released, her first studio album Cry Baby made its debut on August 14, 2015, with the likes of Kinetics and One Love as producers of the record. She released her second album called K-12 four years later, on September 6, 2019, counting a total of 13 tracks with themes such as female empowerment and gender equality.

Her unique style of writing, singing, and story-telling has garnered her enormous fanbase— songs like “Mrs. Potato Head” and “Dollhouse” yield a touch of social commentary, while “Alphabet Boy” and “Cry Baby” give listeners a glimpse into her personal life.

She cites Lana Del Rey, Regina Spektor, Feist, Fiona Apple and Marina and the Diamonds as major influences on her music.

In addition to her accounts on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, Melanie also uses Tumblr, YouTube, and her official website to connect with fans.
