〈Verse 1〉
If something happens to me
You can sell the guitars
Maybe just keep the best one
In case someday our boy wants to learn
If something happens to me
Make sure the album gets done
I know nobody listens to these
But they are the part of myself that lives on

〈PreChorus 1〉
Please don’t stop playing beautiful chords on the family piano
Don’t let me be the reason that music went out of your life
When you’re ready again, I hope you keep singing on Sundays
I know it’ll take time before any of that can feel right

〈Chorus〉
Remember me
I know there’s pain in the memories
But if you can, please
Don’t let me fade away
Will we meet again?
In a place where we’ve never been
On my better days I believe
This is not where it ends
〈Verse 2〉
If something happens to me
I’m not afraid for our son
I know he’ll be loved, he will have you
And you were always the better of us
If something happens to me
I will promise to trust
I will gather the scraps of my faith
Threadbare and honest, and maybe enough

〈PreChorus 2〉
Sell the books if you want to, the Bibles and novels and histories
Ask my sister if she wants to keep all the movies we made
But don’t throw out the photographs, don’t make the same mistake I did
When the memories wear out like fabric, you’ll still know my face

〈Chorus〉
Remember me
I know there’s pain in the memories
But if you can, please
Don’t let me fade away
Will we meet again?
In a place where we’ve never been
On my better days I believe
This is not where it ends

Matthew LeFevers - Biography

Matthew LeFevers has been releasing a steady stream of music with various bands (This Glass Embrace, Map & Compass, and others) for decades. This new solo project is a chance to make something different — vulnerable, intimate, and raw. It draws inspiration from modern singer-songwriters, radio pop, and indie folk, and tries to reach the true and quiet place beyond our tangled fears.
