Dar Williams - Биография

Dar Williams (настоящее имя Dorothy Snowden Williams) - американская певица.
Williams родилась 19 апреля 1967 года в Нью-Йорке. Росла с двумя старшими сестрами. Williams начала играть на гитаре в возрасте 9 лет и писать песни 2 года спустя. Увлекалась драмой, выступала в театральном кружке.
В 1990 году Williams переехала в Бостон. Работала около года менеджером в Оперной компании, правда, совмещала не переставала писать песни, записывать демо и брала уроки вокала. Выступала в местной кофейне. В 1993 году Williams переехала в Массачусетс.
Williams записала первый альбом «The Honesty Room» на своем собственном лейбле Burning Field Music. Позже альбом был переиздан лейблом Waterbug Records. В 1995 году певица заключила контракт с лейблом Razor & Tie и выпустила альбом «Mortal City» в 1996 году. Позже лейбл переиздал альбом «The Honesty Room». Через год вышел новый альбом «End of The Summer».
В 1998 году Williams, Richard Shindell и Lucy Kaplansky образовали группу Cry Cry Cry. Группа выпустила альбом кавер-версий и отправилась в турне с 1998 года по 2000 год.
